Blake - One Month

It's been one month already since we welcomed our sweet baby girl Blake Rene Brown into the world, actually it was a month last Saturday.  I've been having a hard time finding the time to post because my hands have been a little full. I haven't done an official blog announcement, or written her birth story but I am planning on it. We were all three so happy to welcome her home and have adjusted pretty well.  Beau is doing so well and is the best big brother.

Baby girl has already changed so much in just a short time.  I'm not sure on her weight or length at the one month mark but I do know that at her two week check up she was up to seven pounds and her length was 20.5 inches, and I know she's filled out more since then.  She is a total chow hound, so I'm not surprised.

We started Blake on breastfeeding just like with Beau but soon felt like formula would be the better option for us so we slowly started switching at the four week mark. She did okay with breastfeeding, but she was eating constantly and I was never sure if she was eating too little or too much. Then we had a serious bout of colic that just about made us all about crazy as her fussy time was between 9 pm and midnight.  When everyone else was trying to go to sleep  she was busy crying for no reason.  We seem to have each other figured out for the most part now though.

We don't have a great routine yet, she eats sort of sporadically and never the same amount.  She sleeps great in the mornings and not so well at night. I think she fights her sleep more at night, maybe  because the house is busier since Mark and Beau are both home as well.

Some notable things...She has what we call crazy arms. They just go, wiggle, and squirm. It's hard to hold her when she is like this and I hope it is just a phase.  She is really strong and has pretty decent control over her head already.  She doesn't mind tummy time, I think she will have it mastered and be rolling over in no time. She smiled one day before her one month birthday but I haven't been able to capture it on camera yet.

So far things she loves include eating, being walked around the house, getting some floor time to just stretch her legs, bath time, playing with her Daddy, and being snuggled my her Momma.

Things she doesn't love: being left alone, hiccups (she has them all the time), and her car seat (though she is getting better at it.)

Here are a few photos of Blake's first month on the outside!

She reminds us so much of Beau at times.

Little beauty.

Proud big brother.

Beau thought sharing bath time was the best.
